TBILISI SPRING 2018 TAMUNA INGOROKVA

Tamuna Ingorokva knows how to dress a supermodel. Her slinky jumpsuits have been spotted on a slew of catwalkers this year including Gigi Hadid, Romee Strijd, Doutzen Kroes, and Edita Vilkeviciute, who also wore a wedding dress by Ingorokva back in July. The Tbilisi-based designer doesn’t seem to be slowing down on the leather or made-for-models front either. This season, she delved hard into the themes, churning out pieces like a red crinkly blazer and an off-the-shoulder kicky dress.

But it was her knits that really stood out. It helps that they work more in the wardrobe of the everyday woman than full-on assassin-style leather looks do. Ingorokva’s knits come sleeveless, cropped, and fantastically cut thanks to Georgia’s long history in high-quality knitwear. A sleeveless vest boasting Kazimir Malevich–type squares gave off a late-’90s no-frills look, especially when paired with low-slung, cropped red patent leather pants. Sure, everyone can wear one, but don’t be surprised if one of those nubby tops end up on a Victoria’s Secret Angel in the near future.
