Statement knits are what first put Lalo Dolidze’s brand on the international radar, but it’s nice to see the designer taking a different path as of late. Instead of wild, colorful sweaters, he went with pastel and windowpane-print cardigans thrown over ladylike skirts and dresses for a chunky, cool take on layering.
The mix had plenty of quirky appeal, if at times it appeared a bit busy, as when a belt was cinched around the waist on top of a knit. Still, it’s smart that the label is shifting course when it comes to switching up signature pieces—fashion waits for no man. A denim jacket with embedded grommets was a standout look that could be another hit. In fact, it might be the thing that will make young women want to trade in their cozy sweaters.
