SAYYA

SAYYA

For the FW23/24 season, SAYYA gets inspired by the ’90s and ’00s style. Ukrainian girl, Luba Makarenko, designer and founder of SAYYA has an exquisite talent for nailing colorful, fun, justsophisticated-enough pieces. She mentions: “The Main idea of the new collection is that SAYYA has matured. It has become sexier, with more driving energy”.

SAYYA translates this controversial balance of power and softness into the language of clothing. The collection is full of high contrasts: fluffy wool and lightweight cotton speak of the desire for comfort, while the wide shoulder jacket and brutal leather personify a confident and sassy girl. She is interested in how clothes make a woman feel and how she will adapt them to her ever-changing life. In this collection, bold and expressive styles, are permeated by a whole spectrum of emotions brought together.

There are two key points in the collection – patchwork and handcraft. Patchwork first appeared at SAYYA two years ago, when the PRE-SPRING collection was created. A lot of fabric leftovers and the designer used them to create the new FW23/24 collection. The coat made in patchwork technique from old leather jackets and jeans became a unique item in the collection. Craftsmanship has become the protagonist in the collection. The crocheted crop top represents the hard work of SAYYA’s craftswomen. For this piece, they crocheted flowers and used a thin leather cord as a knitting material for the cropped top. Also, the exquisite mesh skirt and leggings were hand-sewn with crystals.

“Using the old to create the new” is the philosophy of the SAYYA brand. Their dedication to using upcycling fabrics shows them as a leader in sustainable fashion, providing a fresh and exciting approach to creating stylish clothing.

SAYYA in collaboration with Georgian shoe brand Janelidze created Cowboy boots specifically for the new collection. It’s all about the contrast; wearing something feminine like a fluffy mini dress, classic pinstripe suit and 90ish cut denim suit and pairing it with Cowboy boots became an integral part of the collection. It’s important to mention that all footwear is handmade.

FW23/24 is not a typical collection as we used to understand “fall-winter”. The “flower” has become a prominent element of SAYYA. Flowers give a feminine and infantile energy to clothes. “When I was designing the dress for SS23, I accidentally came up with a flower on it. I didn’t want to stop at one dress and decided to add it to FW23/24” – the designer said.
