The beauty of an inexperienced life is hard to see, it sounds impossible to appreciate the fear, doubt, hate, self-destruction, and insecurities. A person wakes up and the first thing that comes to mind is – I destroy myself more and more every day. However, there is beauty in that too.
RECKLESS presents yet another collection about the life of a teenager. The brand continues to channel the pressures of the day-to-day life of a teen. At the current display, you come across shirts saying: “I LOVE HENTAI,” hoodies, and t-shirts with texts such as: “I RECOGNIZE THE DIVINITY WITHIN ME” or “MY HEART HURTS.”
Those pieces of clothing are about the appreciation of transparency when it comes to mental problems. Messages that are on the pieces are very intimate parts of somebody’s consciousness. This is the pain that comes with becoming an adult, becoming more and more aware of one’s surroundings, and the people. Sometimes it is painful to become very aware of yourself too.
The melancholy of falling out with people you love seems unbearable, especially when you start to fall out with yourself. This is the biggest insecurity, losing yourself to something you haven’t even experienced yet. Loneliness is the only thing that starts making sense and losing is what sounds real. However, you are not alone, you are not okay, which is okay too.
Togetherness is what heals, the beauty of finding somebody who shares your pain is what becomes crucial in the way RECKLESS creates. Teenagers, for the first time in their life, find people who could be their ultimate support, with whom they can share their raw, intense feelings without fear. This is what means not to feel alone when you are at the lowest of the low and feel the most insecure about life. All of it becomes okay.
To show its appreciation for this experience, the brand produced pieces of clothing with texts demonstrating teenage pain in a very “into your face manner.” Showing that it is normal to feel all of it to its fullest and that you are not alone in this. Mass producing those products becomes very symbolic, emphasizing that this burden is what every member of the society carries, at least the ones who have jackets saying: “I CRIED AGAIN TODAY.”
